Culmination Activities & Requirements

EIGHTH GRADE STUDENTS MUST MEET ALL LAUSD REQUIREMENTS AND ALL SCHOOL-SITE CRITERIA TO EARN A CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION

LAUSD (Los Angeles Unified School District) has adopted a Culmination Activities policy which defines the criteria as follows:

At G. W. Carver Middle School to participate in the culmination ceremony students must:

Earn a G.P.A. of 2.0 or above each semester, including a C or better in Math and English Language Arts by the 15-week Spring progress report.
Earn at least 12 E’s and/or S’s in Work Habits and Cooperation
Demonstrate proficiency or progress towards the goal of 96% attendance.
Abide by school and district policy with respect to student conduct and school property.
All financial obligations must be resolved, including technology, library fines, and textbooks
Earn 50 credits during their 8th grade school year.

LAUSD (Los Angeles Unified School District) has adopted a Certificate of Completion policy which defines the criteria as follows:

The Certificate of Completion will be determined by receiving a mark of “D” or better in the eighth grade (all subject areas will be considered for eligibility)
Students must earn a total of 50 credits during their 8th grade year to be eligible for a Certificate of Completion (grade 8 students earn 5 credits for passing each semester course with a mark of “D” or better)
