Culmination Activities & Requirements
EIGHTH GRADE STUDENTS MUST MEET ALL LAUSD REQUIREMENTS AND ALL SCHOOL-SITE CRITERIA TO EARN A CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION
LAUSD (Los Angeles Unified School District) has adopted a Culmination Activities policy which defines the criteria as follows:
At G. W. Carver Middle School to participate in the culmination ceremony students must:
- Earn a G.P.A. of 2.0 or above each semester, including a C or better in Math and English Language Arts by the 15-week Spring progress report.
- Earn at least 12 E’s and/or S’s in Work Habits and Cooperation
- Demonstrate proficiency or progress towards the goal of 96% attendance.
- Abide by school and district policy with respect to student conduct and school property.
- All financial obligations must be resolved, including technology, library fines, and textbooks
- Earn 50 credits during their 8th grade school year.
LAUSD (Los Angeles Unified School District) has adopted a Certificate of Completion policy which defines the criteria as follows:
- The Certificate of Completion will be determined by receiving a mark of “D” or better in the eighth grade (all subject areas will be considered for eligibility)
- Students must earn a total of 50 credits during their 8th grade year to be eligible for a Certificate of Completion (grade 8 students earn 5 credits for passing each semester course with a mark of “D” or better)
In addition, all students must not have any outstanding obligations:
- Unserved detentions
- Uncleared Absences
- Unresolved financial obligations
