Achievements & Honors


 

Students who work hard on their academic and citizenship grades are considered for the following achievement honors. Special events are planned for acknowledgement of these achievements.


HONOR ROLL:

At George Washington Carver Middle School, we honor our students every Fall and Spring by celebrating their achievements and progress with grade-level Honor Roll Ceremonies.

Honor Roll Eligibility:

Eligibility is based on 20-week Report Cards

  • GPA: 3.0 - 4.0
  • Academic Marks: A, B, C only | No D or F marks
  • Work Habits/Cooperation: All S/E marks | No U marks

Principal's Honor Roll

​Students who have all A’s and all E’s on their final report card.

A 4.0 GPA is required.

High Honor Roll

​Students who have no D’s, Fails or U’s on their final report card.

​ A 3.5 GPA is required.

Honor Roll

​Students who have no D’s, Fails or U’s on their final report card.

​A 3.0 GPA is required.


Honor Roll Ceremony: About two weeks prior to the special event, students receive invitations informing them that they are to be honored. On the day of the ceremonies, students are summonsed from class to participate in the event, where they are awarded a certificate on-stage.  Alternatively, the ceremony may also be scheduled after school.  Reach out to your grade-level counselor with any questions pertaining to Honor Roll Eligibility or Ceremonies.

CARVER COUGAR CLAW AWARD

The Cougar Claw Award serves as a ceremony for outstanding students to be recognized by Carver MS teachers/ staff. The selected students embody Character, Commitment, and/or Community throughout this school year. This time around we are also including families and community members.  Award Ceremonies are held three times per school year.
