Principal's Welcome Message

Greetings Carver Community!

It is with great honor and enthusiasm to be your proud principal! I look forward to working alongside each of you to support our students in reaching their potential and achieving academic success. I have served the South Los Angeles Community for the last 30 years in various positions. As your new school leader, my mission is to provide a safe environment in which students are held accountable for their own learning. The key to their success depends upon staff members and parents/caregivers who are not only the vehicle for positive change but are also engaged participants in our students' education.

As a Carver Alumni I recall the times I walked through these hallways, placing my material in the lockers and repeating my code in my head over and over to ensure I would remember it. I was provided with my first job opportunity in the student store and earned my first $35 dollars. I felt so proud that I could purchase an outfit after earning a salary during my lunch time. Now, I can be a part of the Carver Community in a different capacity and I am excited to create new memories. As we move into our next school year, it will be important for all stakeholders to continue to work together to promote growth and accomplishments in all social and academic areas of the school. The allegiance of staff and parents as partners will certainly ensure student success and remove a multitude of obstacles that may block paths to achievement. It is essential that we help provide parents the tools necessary to advocate for their child/ren.

As I work on learning everyone's name, the culture of the school, and how to support our students, I realize that I am not alone in this work, I realize that I have an entire staff who is here for the same reasons I am; to ensure our students learn, grow, and believe that they can truly achieve any dream they set to their minds. I am excited to be on this journey with you and I am looking forward to the many successes we will achieve together this year and years to come. I currently have two of my granddaughters who are attending schools in our community. My goal is for my granddaughter to attend Carver MS in four years when she has finished her elementary school experience.

Again, I truly appreciate the opportunity to be your leader and I am confident that our future partnership will ensure continued success for our scholars!
